MTNL VIRTUAL PHONE CARD 

MTNL Virtual Phone Card is a unique and innovative service which provides a subscriber, who may not have a telephone or fax machine of his/ her own, facility to receive messages or faxes as well as to make outgoing calls from any phone.

The voice messages and faxes are received in a mailbox whose number is same as virtual phone card number. These messages/ faxes can be retrieved from any working telephone/ fax machine. The subscriber can also make outgoing calls from any telephone using the virtual phone card number. The call charges are billed to the virtual phone card and not to the telephone from which the call is made.

Therefore, the service effectively provides a virtual phone to the subscriber with facility for both incoming messages/ faxes and outgoing calls. Moreover, the virtual phone is accessible just like any other phone in the network and is permanent in nature i.e a. subscriber can continue same virtual phone number simply by getting it renewed after the expiry period

  Features and Advantages of the Service

  • Receive and Retrieve Voice Messages /faxes: anywhere, anytime.

  • Store upto 10 Voice Messages and 10 faxes simultaneously for 7 days.

  • Automatic deletion of un-played or kept message/fax which are more than 7 days old.

  • Facility to make outgoing calls from any telephone similar to any other pre-paid calling card.

  • Expiry date of the card is from the date of first use/ login.

  • And all this just for Rs 100/- a month (excluding service tax).

How to get an MTNL Virtual Phone Card

The MTNL Virtual Phone Card is available in the form of a pre-paid card in two denominations viz. Rs.300/- and Rs.600/- (plus service tax) and can be obtained from your nearest Sanchar Haat by filling up a simple FORM (the form can be downloaded from our web site http://delhi.mtnl.net.in also). The expiry period of Rs 300/- denomination card is three months and that for Rs 600/- denomination is six months from the date of first use/ login. However, you can get the cards renewed for a period which is in multiple of three or six months as the case may be on payment corresponding to the renewal period at any Sanchar Haat before your card expires. 

How to get a message or fax in your mailbox

  • Your virtual phone card number is given on the card. A customer account number is also given which is for reference purposes.

  • Remove the scratch-off coating to get your 4-digits passcode and 4-digits authentication code. These codes are to be kept secret by the card-holder. The passcode is to be used for retrieving your messages/ faxes whereas the authentication code is to be used while making an outgoing call.

  • Communicate your virtual phone card number to your acquaintances, friends, and relatives from whom you wish to receive messages / faxes.

  • One can send messages /Fax to you by simply dialing your virtual phone card number and following the instructions. After the recording is over, one can press # button to exercise various options like review the message, mark the message urgent and continue recording or can press 9 to exit.

How to retrieve your massages/ faxes

  • Dial your virtual phone card number from any telephone to retrieve your message or from a fax machine to retrieve your faxes.

  • Press the * button as soon as the announcement starts to indicate that the owner wishes to access his/ her own mailbox.

  • The system will ask you to enter your passcode. Enter the 4-digits passcode as scratched above.

  • The system will prompts you to “ Press 1 to retrieve message or Press 2 to receive Fax”.

  • Press the proper key and follow the instructions.

How to make outgoing calls

     ·    Dial 160411 from any phone in tone mode. If tone mode is not there in the phone, you can press *  button after dialing 160411 to bring the phone in tone mode.
·   Wait for announcement and dial your virtual phone card number followed by 4-digits authentication code as scratched above.
 ·     Wait for the announcement “ Please dial your choice”.
 
·  
Dial the choice as follows:
     
Press  1  if you want to make a call
     
Press  2  for changing your authentication code
     
Press  3  to know your balance
·   Wait for announcement.
 
·  
Dial destination number if dialed choice is 1 above.
 
·  
Dial the new authentication code if the dialed choice is 2. Wait for announcement and re-dial new authentication code when advised to do so.
 
·  
Replace the handset after the call is over, or when the new authentication code is registered. 

General Information:  

While retrieving the  message the system will prompt to dial  
        7    to play your message.
          8    to change user options.
          9    to exit the system.
Once you have played your message, you can press:
      
7     to play the message again.
      
5    to keep the message for future review.
      
3    to discard the message. 

Similarly, while retrieving the Fax message the system will prompt to dial
    
  7      for fax transmittal options.
     
8      user options.
      
9      to exit the system. 

On pressing 7, the system will prompt to dial
             8 for fax transmittal options.
            7 run the current message again.
            5 save the current message.
            3 to discard it.

On pressing 8, the system will prompt to dial
        7 to receive the fax now.
        9 exit the system.

On pressing 7, the system will prompt
           
“To receive your fax Press Start button on your fax machine now.”
Press Start button on the fax machine. The fax machine will receive the fax from the system. Once you have received your fax messages, you can press:7   to receive the fax message again.
          5   to keep the fax message for future review.
           3  to discard the fax message. 

Important Notes: 

     1)      Passcode: You will always be prompted for your passcode while accessing your virtual phone mailbox. Your passcode is printed on Scratch Card as scratched above. However, you can change your passcode which can be a 4 to 10 digit number by going to user options. Choose some number that is easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess. If you do not wish to have pass-code dial four times Zero i.e. 0000.
2)   If you accidentally DISCARD a message you can retrieve it immediately by  pressing ‘*’ , otherwise your message will be lost.
3)     
System will automatically delete un-played or kept messages/ fax which are more than 7 days old.
4)     
Maximum Number of messages/fax that can be stored in virtual phone mailbox simultaneously is 10 each.
5)     
No new message/fax will be stored if the mailbox is full. So it is advisable to check your mailbox regularly. 

6)     
The card of Rs 300/- denomination has Rs 150- as the charges for virtual phone card mailbox and Rs 150/- as the amount available for making outgoing calls with validity of three months. Similarly, the card of Rs 600/- denomination has Rs 300- as the charges for virtual phone card mailbox and Rs 300/- as the amount available for making outgoing calls with validity of six months.
